Our Apple Picking Adventure

Yesterday we embarked towards Mexico, New York to visit the Sage Creek Apple Orchard, which is a ‘you pick’ farm. The day was especially momentous because it was Jackie’s first outdoor adventure since her kidney transplant surgery on August 29th. Jackie is doing well but still tires easily so apple picking was the perfect low-key activity to celebrate her health.

We began our trek down to Mexico after eating potato soup and french bread at Briana’s (yummy). Our first obstacle…trying to figure out how to get the middle back seat belt to work….

40 some miles later, we were in Mexico. Unfortunately there were no margaritas on this trip. However, there was beautiful fall foilage and of course, apples.

After we talked to the owner of the farm, we sent out into the orchards to pick apples. We chose Sage Creek Orchards because it is relatively unknown and low key. There is another apple orchard in Mexico that is ridiculously populated and for lack of a better word, a zoo. Anyways, we were very impressed with Sage Creek Orchard.

Briana and Christie using an alternative technique to grab the apples from the trees…

Fran in a tree.

Jackie, Christie, Briana, Fran, and myself all posing for the camera…

Apple picking with the girls was a great way to spend a Saturday afternoon. Added bonus…I now have 74 apples sitting on my counter.
