My brother was an avid ice hockey player growing up so I have a working knowledge of the sport. And because I didn’t live under a rock during my formative years, I am familiar with Wayne Gretzy and his famous quote, “You miss 100% of the shots you never take.” How true. If you’re anything like us, then your life isn’t about sitting around waiting for something interesting to happen. We’re more carpe diem than “let’s wait and see“. So keeping Wayne Gretzy in mind, we’re taking a shot.
Long story short – last month, Clay was offered a position that will make us an active duty family again, likely for the rest of his career. And we said yes. Accepting the position involves a PCS* move. Very soon. We all know that life has a funny way of throwing curveballs when you least expect it. And boy, did we receive a curveball. An exciting curveball. A curveball we didn’t think was possible, based on the selectively of the program. And a curveball that we’re embracing in all its’ adventurous glory.
Then it’s hi! hi! hey!
The Army’s on its way.
Count off the cadence loud and strong;
For where’er we go,
You will always know
That The Army Goes Rolling Along.
We’ve been sitting on this information for a couple of weeks now, working to finalize the details and waiting for the official set of orders. But now everything is in motion and we are getting ready for yet another wild ride. Yeehaw!
* For all of the non-military folk out there, PCS stands for Permanent Change of Station. Basically, the military moves you to another location. Most military families PCS multiple times during a career.
