Then It’s Hi! Hi! Hey!

My brother was an avid ice hockey player growing up so I have a working knowledge of the sport. And because I didn’t live under a rock during my formative years, I am familiar with Wayne Gretzy and his famous quote, “You miss 100% of the shots you never take.” How true. If you’re anything like us, then your life isn’t about sitting around waiting for something interesting to happen. We’re more carpe diem than “let’s wait and see“.  So keeping Wayne Gretzy in mind, we’re taking a shot.

Long story short – last month, Clay was offered a position that will make us an active duty family again, likely for the rest of his career. And we said yes. Accepting the position involves a PCS* move. Very soon. We all know that life has a funny way of throwing curveballs when you least expect it. And boy, did we receive a curveball. An exciting curveball. A curveball we didn’t think was possible, based on the selectively of the program. And a curveball that we’re embracing in all its’ adventurous glory.

Then it’s hi! hi! hey!
The Army’s on its way.
Count off the cadence loud and strong;
For where’er we go,
You will always know
That The Army Goes Rolling Along.

We’ve been sitting on this information for a couple of weeks now, working to finalize the details and waiting for the official set of orders. But now everything is in motion and we are getting ready for yet another wild ride. Yeehaw!

* For all of the non-military folk out there, PCS stands for Permanent Change of Station. Basically, the military moves you to another location. Most military families PCS multiple times during a career.

    1. Haha – sorry Danielle! PCS stands for Permanent Change of Station. Basically, the military moves you to another location. With the position that Clay accepted, we will be PCSing every three years.

  1. Never a dull moment, huh? Congratulations to Clay. Can’t wait to hear where the PCS (I learned something new!) is taking you.

  2. Wow! Congrats! You guys officially have the most exciting life ever 🙂 I’m excited to hear all about your PCS (yeah, I didn’t know either…). Can’t wait to follow you guys on your journey!

    1. Hahahahahaha – the most exciting life ever? Hahahahaha. There are many days that I feel like I am stuck in boringville while I watch those around me take off on exciting adventures. I have never considered us to live an exciting life, so thanks for the laugh. 🙂

  3. Keeping our fingers crossed that as discussed last week, we will get to see you next spring break!!!!

    1. Not this time . Our next location deserves an entire post itself…that is all I am saying for now (there is a teeny tiny chance that it may get changed). Haha.

  4. That is really exciting! Although I’m sure there is probably a little stress involved, but you seem to take things in stride. I know you love adventures, and I’m sure this will provide one. Sometimes the most amazing things have a way of falling into your lap. I look forward to hearing more about it!

  5. Wow! You sure do know how to roll with things! I can’t wait to hear where you’re headed next… also to see your decorating projects in your next place.

  6. Wow, moving every few years? You are brave, woman, braver than I. But I’m glad you’re approaching this life change as a new adventure, a new journey with your husband and family. Great outlook!

  7. Welcome back to active duty! Looking forward to see where you guys are pcsing next. We are waiting for orders right now and I am going crazy!

  8. That’s so exciting! Come to Leavenworth…maybe you can show me why this post even exists! lol…is Clay doing MCTP?

Do you have something to say?
