About Karen

IMG_3775Hi – my name is Karen. I am one of the million thirty-something women bloggers infiltrating the internet. I love the outdoors, being active, traveling, and eating delicious food. And I’ve never been known to turn down a well-prepared cup of coffee, a cold beer, or glass of wine. My mother convinced my father to name their eldest child after her favorite childhood paper doll, so it’s been my lifelong goal to be more than one dimensional (approximately 91% of those polled believe I am achieving said goal).

I’ve been married for over 12 years to my college sweetheart, who happens to serve in the Army. He’s the peanut butter to my jelly and the cheeseburger to my milkshake. There is no one else I’d rather travel the world with and consider him to be the cat’s pajamas. Our two children and chocolate lab have proved themselves to be excellent adventure-mates and we can’t wait to see where the road will lead our little family next.

We call Texas home, and will for the next couple of years. I began blogging in early 2006 during my husband’s first deployment to Afghanistan. Since then, I’ve chronicled our multiple moves around the country, another deployment, countless TDY’s, and anything and everything in-between. I’ve had a handful of blogs over the years but have been writing at And Then We Laughed since 2012.

Why And Then We Laughed? Because it seems like whatever experiences we encounter (good and bad), it always ends with laughter. And it is reminiscent of Proverb 31:25 {she is clothed in strength & dignity and laughs without fear of the future}. That and all the other good titles we taken.

  1. I’m a die-hard Selleck fan too. Love Blue Bloods. 🙂 I’m also left-handed. Great post on correcting the article by Mr. Woods on the military. My husband is retired Air Force, so I relate. I applaud and your husband for your sacrifices. Thank you for serving!

  2. First off, Go Tigers (I grew up in a “divided house”, but am a true Clemson fan!), second you are pretty awesome 😀 I am thankful for your fun blog about your sweet family and your funny outlook on the military life. As an Army wife as well, I appreciate your post. Thanks!

  3. my son also has a fear of driving over large bridges – like the one in Charleston – before it was re-built. And his favorite color is orange! Great minds think alike I guess 🙂 Nice to “meet” you – hope you are enjoying the party!

  4. Hello! I’m not sure I comment much here, but I read andthenwelaughed when I need a smile. And it’s one of my favorites in my Reader feed. So, I’ve nominated you for the Very Inspiring Blogger Award. Feel free to link back or not, just wanted to let you know it’s there. 🙂 Happy Weekend!
